This artifact focuses on human growth and development as well as content knowledge as part of a year-long action plan focused on higher order thinking through reading aloud instruction. As I developed my action research plan, I thought back on my own classroom experience as well as my own teaching experiences. I thought back on what read aloud instruction looked like and how I could improve the ways in which I asked questions that required my students to think deeper. I believe that through the development of my action research plan, I grew in how I viewed instruction and the development of authentic read aloud lessons. As a reading specialist or literacy coach, it is important for me to have ongoing research into how students learn and how to support success in the classroom. This action research plan developed a year-long study on the effects of book study, keeping a journal and reflecting, goal setting, and achievement of skills in order to best achieve student success.
